Where is Your Focus?

When I was 16, I took driving lessons from a driving instructor.

I’d been driving for over a year and because I’d had a couple of accidents my dad wanted me to undergo training by a professional.

The instructor and I only had one lesson because I only had one problem to solve — and it’s the same problem I and most people struggle with in every area of our lives.

The instructor said, “I want you to hold your hands completely steady on the wheel — don’t swerve.”

I did.

“Now, look ahead but focus more to your left.” The car glided to the left.

“Shift your focus more to the right.” He said. The car slipped silently to the right.

“The problem,” he summarized, “is that you’re wanting to drive straight ahead but you’re focusing everywhere else. And the car goes where you look.”

Question: where in your own life, are you wanting to go one direction but looking somewhere else?

Today, let’s correct course once and for all.

Think It’s Possible to Quit Complaining????  International Motivational Speaker, and #1 Best-selling Author of “A Compliant Free World” Will Bowen Shows Us How! In 2006 he was delivering a series on prosperity, and noticed that his audience all said they wanted greater prosperity– that is: more stuff.  But, they all complained about what they already had. He suggested everyone break the complaining habit by going 21 days in a row without complaining. Will gave purple rubber bracelets to everyone in attendance urging them to put the bracelet on either wrist and switch it to the other wrist with every spoken complaint. Will’s idea EXPLODED around the world, and continues today! So far, more than 11 million complaint bracelets have been distributed worldwide. The six millionth Complaint Free® bracelet was personally presented by Will to the late Dr. Maya Angelou. Featured on Oprah, The Today Show, Dr. Oz, CBS Sunday Morning, The ABC Evening News, NewsweekPeople magazine, Forbes magazine, O magazine, Chicken Soup for the Soul; Will also writes a daily blog with thousands of subscribers. You Have to Slow Down to Speed Up!

You Have to Slow Down to Speed Up

Today is the start of the second half of the year. I am sitting here early on a Sunday morning with a cup of steaming hot coffee considering that today marks the ending of the first half of 2018 and the start of the next.

You are probably like me and spend most of your time working…doing…creating your life. However, sometimes we need to look back and be honest with ourselves so we can move forward.

In other words, you have to slow down to speed up.
Are you where you want to be in 2018? You likely have accomplished some of your goals and still, have more to do. Same for me.
Here is a simple exercise if you want to evaluate yourself.
1. Look at the numbers.
Can you quantify what has happened in your life and business to show how far you have come? List out your accomplishments. Be careful not to forget the ones that were easy for you, but come as a struggle for others. List out your income, profit, skills gained, weight and your PR in health. Don’t rush this as it is helpful to see have far you have come.
2. Write about your experiences.

What experiences stand out for you? What struggles did you overcome? What moments made you proud?

3. Get clear on the next six months.
What do you want from the next six months? To lose weight…more profit…2 weeks off to travel…write your book (the one you have been talking about). List all the things you want.
4. Find your one thing.

Which of these is most important to you? Can you narrow it down to one thing? Can you identify the one goal or experience that means the most to you? You have other goals and other experiences, but can you determine what is MOST important to you for the second half of the year?

Ok with this, you have something that excites you and inspires you to live a bigger life. It can also be scary too.

What to do next?

I know for sure that to create something new that you have to create new paths to get there. You have to let go of the old to create a new way of being.  If you share with me your ONE thing, I will send you a free tool to ensure that you make it. This is not a sales strategy or some other manipulation. It is a simple way to align yourself with your “one thing.” All you have to do is reply here and tell me what you want in your life in 2018.

Here is you…and your next six months. Let’s create something that inspires you for the inside.
You are awesome!

Nonprofit Caregivers Need Help, Too

NONPROFIT CAREGIVERS NEED HELP, TOO

Every day dedicated nonprofit professionals are working to help those who have suffered misfortune, aiding victims in need of care, and finding solutions to someone else’s problems.

Nonprofit professionals deal with situations that can range from the simple to the complex and, often to the tragic.

The daily pressure and stress can be mentally, physically, and emotionally challenging. Even the most compassionate and consummate professional can feel the cumulative impact of such a demanding career.

Unfortunately, the intensity of this already stressful workplace environment is growing. While budgets are being cut and calls for help are escalating, staffs are being pushed to do more with less.

So who props up those who prop up others? The answer could be You.

As a high school basketball player, I was barely good enough to make the team, and my prospects for actually getting into a game were close to nonexistent.

In spite of my bench warming role, my three younger sisters showed up at games to loudly cheer for their brother. Their pleas to “put Hardy in” didn’t persuade the coach but did totally embarrass me.

Through the years, my sisters have continued their encouragement. They recognize a need and offer support. My once youthful embarrassment has grown into appreciation and the realization of how fortunate I am to have such great cheerleaders in my life!

You too can have a positive influence on those you work with by being a cheerleader who provides co-workers with a much needed boost.

Help create a supportive environment that will assist in re-charging those whose batteries are running low. Offer words of encouragement to those dealing with a particularly difficult situation. Recognize when someone may be struggling, and help find a way to temporarily lighten his or her load. An act of kindness will go a long way toward deflecting frustration, fatigue, and even burnout.

Acknowledge those who are making a difference. The feeling of being appreciated is a powerful motivator.

Champion the effort to get everyone working together as a team. Celebrate the individual and collective successes your organization is having so each person can share in the glow of accomplishment.

People who work to meet the needs of others are indeed special. But even those who help others need help and deserve recognition and encouragement themselves.

A sister can be a great cheerleader. And you can too!

Speaker Hardy Smith is your Go-to Resource who works with NonProfits and Associations that want an Ongoing Culture of Performance. Organizations across America have benefited from Hardy’s 30-plus years of experience working in the high-performance world of NASCAR racing. His extensive involvement with nonprofit, volunteer-based, and community groups nationwide gives him a keen understanding of nonprofit and association needs. Hardy’s offerings include keynote addresses, seminars, workshops, leadership retreats and strategic planning sessions, such as, “Why Don’t Board Members Do What They’re Supposed to Do?; leadership training; strategic planning; and innovative and results-oriented consultation.  To hire Hardy for your upcoming event ct 888-766-3155.

Are You a Sheep?

sheepSheep are not the smartest animals ever created! They have no sense of direction, poor eyesight, and can easily wander away. It is very hard work for sheep owners to keep their flocks focused through the season of growing the wool they will eventually take to market and sell.

One of the greatest dangers for a sheep is when they reach their greatest potential of producing all that fluffy wool on their bodies, if they do not carefully obey the owner they risk toppling over onto their backs and they will not be able to get up and eventually can lose their life.  Once this happens the owner has to quickly sheer the wool off of the sheep and set them back upright.

Then since the sheep was so stubborn the owner has to physically break one of their legs; and as they are healing carry the sheep around to let it know he will take care of it.  Once the leg is healed the sheep has a limp, but understands that the owner will take care of him and he follows the owners’ direction, knowing if he doesn’t he will die. Sounds like being a sheep owner can be extremely hard work, doesn’t it?

Do you ever act like a sheep in your business? Do you have a plan that keeps you focused and going in the right direction?  Do you limit how far you see into the future of your business? Are you easily distracted and end up wasting time, and then have to work extra hard to catch up? Do you need to remove something in your life so you can live up to your full potential and not give up and lose your dreams?

The good news is we can change a little easier than a sheep. We can develop a business plan that works and will keep us on track. We can learn new skills that will keep us looking into the long term aspects of our businesses. We can learn to recognize and handle the distractions that want to keep us from achieving our goals and living our dreams. We do not have to chase after the wrong things but choose to live an honest and ethical lifestyle both in our personal and professional lives; no matter what. We can choose to remove anything that will prevent us from living life to it’s full potential!

Today I ask you- are you a sheep, or on track to be the most successful business owner you can be?  Glad I represent some of the best speakers and trainers that keep me on top of my game and living in my zone! They are helping so many others too!

“Let It Go!”

letitgoThis time last year we were hearing “Let It Go” everywhere we turned!  The movie, “Frozen” captured our hearts when Queen Elsa through a complex past and story could finally “Let It Go” and become the person she wanted to be.

As we approach a New Year, are there things in our businesses and lives that we still need to “let go” so we can move forward toward the success that we long to achieve?

Geoffrey James, Contributing Editor to Inc.com and award winning business blogger shares in his post-http://goo.gl/i0hbD0
“Success results not from adding things to your life but from letting go of them.”

Sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? Sing the award winning song, and we can do it! However, Mr. James learned it isn’t as easy as we would like it! Very often it is painful to look at the things that may have originally been working for us, and realize we must “let them go!”

He recently took some advice and has a sign posted in large letters near his computer which reads “I LOVE LETTING GO!”  This serves as a great daily reminder that to “let go” we have to love the process of doing so, even though it may be hard, and take longer than we would like!

Thinking now, what are some things you still need to “Let Go” but have put off facing the decisions to do so? Isn’t it time to love letting it go?

From all of here at Simply Sue Speaks Global Booking Agency we congratulate you on learning how to “Let It Go” and move forward to the greatness of You!

Can You Be Focused and Have Fun Too?

Dale CarnegiefunPeople often ask me, don’t you have to be serious and focused to attract clients to do business with you?  Really? Wonder why Dale Carnegie said this: “People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing!”

Can’t you be focused and have fun too? When I mention the word ‘fun” I’ve learned that not everyone thinks of it in the same way! To me being positive, communicating and really listening to people, being energized and wanting to serve first instead of being served demonstrates FUN! Throwing in laughing at yourself and the situations doesn’t hurt either!

Fun can manifest itself in many ways, but the bottom line is wanting others to see you as real, authentic, transparent, and genuinely concerned about them without feeling you are using or want and need something from them!  It’s an art and skill that can be learned without giving up who you are.

Today are you having fun at what you do? Are you successful at doing it your way? I challenge you to expand your reach and see how fun needs to be a part of your business model and core values!

Have fun!  Sue Falcone

Surprise Marketing Sources for Your Business Success!

yesmarketingIt is amazing that as advanced as we are here in the United States, our businesses are not doing as well as they could be! Why is that? Leading researchers share that marketing is the key; and business owners do not take full advantage of what is available for them, both FREE and at reasonable fees!

Business owners think in the beginning, and then going forward, that they have to do it all, including marketing!  They attempt to do things they are not skilled at, and end up eventually having no life, and failure becomes a reality. I learned early on that I can’t do everything, but I got into the trap and gave it my best shot! I learned the hard way what every successful business owner knows, you have to be working “on” your business doing the things that you are best at, and you need to outsource many of those “in” business things that others are better at doing than you are!

Marketing was always one of my skill sets, and I was astonished to learn that 55% of businesses still do not have a website! That seems strange since 80% of Americans and a 1/3 of the world population is online. How does a business intend to reach their target markets or grow without an online presence? I have interviewed many consumers and our own clients, and they have shared that they do not consider doing business with a company that does not have a website! “Just sayin!”

Why would a company choose not to have a website? Most studies show they don’t feel they have the “right” skill sets to get one up and running and then maintain it; nor do they feel the fees for websites are worth the time and resources.

I want to share a secret with you! I know the value of a website, and I recently decided I needed to update my website to one where I could maintain it myself.

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would seek a TV station to create my “new look!”  After doing my homework and securing many quotes, I was surprised to find that my local TV affiliate offered many marketing services for local businesses besides TV ads, and at a rate I could afford!

Thanks to an outstanding sales representative, Hayley Curry, of ABC45 WXLV (owned by parent company Sinclair Broadcast Group), we will soon launch a new site. It was a joy working with Hayley because she took the time to understand my business, and could translate that to the project manager, John Wertz, and webmaster, Beth Tuzi.  It has been a great experience working with this team. I feel they really take their jobs seriously: one of working for me, and wanting my business to succeed!

Besides having a good website, your marketing should include a great Social Media strategy. LinkedIn studies show that 81% of businesses use some form of Social Media to market. But I wonder how many are using all the capabilities of what Social Media can do for them? I love all aspects of Social Media, which not only includes the sites everyone is tapped into, but also newsletters, email blasts, and written publications, such as this blog!

But studies show most business owners are not tapping into the resources that are available to them, and seeking help in getting the “in” things of Social Media handled on a consistent basis!  I found a great virtual Social Media Guru, Tracy Taylor of TNT Marketing, who helps keep our Social Media sites looking good, and the posting of some things. I still feel my sites needs my “personal touch”, but I have limited time, so together we have a strategy, with less stress and time involved for me! Again I found Hayley and her staff can do some major marketing pieces for my business at an affordable rate, which we will soon be putting into place.  Then I can be even more focused “on” my business!  Keep following us here and see the new changes coming!

Have I taken out a large Small Business Loan to cover what I have shared with you?  I assure you I have not! I “bootstrap” my own business, and we remain debt free in it! I look forward to a great rest of our business year, and now that I have given you some awesome ideas, I would love to hear what you plan on doing with them!

Since many have helped me succeed, I love helping others in turn. To contact Tracy Taylor, email her at tracytaylor5312@gmail.com or call her at (865) 809-5989.  To contact Hayley Curry, email her at hccurry@sbgtv.com or call her at 336-499-1704.  Let them know how you heard about them!
