Morning! from Thom Gossom Jr.

Morning!

The morning air is crisp, not yet cool. The sun’s rays reach through the majestic trees, an invitation to the great day ahead. The bay glistens in the background. It’s beautiful! The involuntary grin deeply creases my face. I say my prayers. I’m happy!

Some people go to therapists. Some meditate. Others search daily for that elusive inner peace. For me it’s morning’s freshness and my bicycle at 6am, cruising through the neighborhood. Morning is the gift we’re all given. The bicycle is the gift I give myself.

I’ve been riding bicycles all my life. Love it! I remember my first lessons with training wheels, my first lesson without them. I remember crying when I realized my dad was not behind me holding me up. Then I promptly fell.

Most mornings in good weather, sometimes in not so good weather, I raise the garage door and leave the house for a 75-minute ride through the neighborhood. It’s peaceful. Quiet. There are hardly any cars, dogs, or people; just me, the morning and the promising day ahead.

“The Bicycle Man” they call me. I’ve been called worse.

There are three regular riders on the circuit as I call it, in their colorful bike outfits. They ride as a group always with a bright “good morning” for me. There are some regular walkers offering big smiles while soaking up that morning promise. “Good mornings” abound! Like warm coffee on a cold morning the day flows.

Peaceful solitude only lasts so long. After the 7 o’clock hour the cars, school buses, and people start to flow. I make my way back to our home.

The newness of another day!

Don’t Leave Your BIG Goals to Chance! Reliably Achieve BIG Goals Faster

Don’t Leave Your BIG Goals to Chance! Reliably Achieve BIG Goals Faster

By Carl Loop

Do you hear people state a BIG goal that makes you inwardly (or outwardly) just shake your head in disbelief? As in, you have about as much chance of accomplishing that as a New Years resolution (which has about 8% chance of being accomplished on average).
And yet, people do accomplish goals, they even accomplish BIG goals that they (and often everyone else) once thought were impossible!
• 7 and 8 Figure Business Growth at Record Speed
• Owning 200 Investment Property Homes
• 1st Female NFL Coach and Hall of Fame
• Feeding 10’s of Thousands of People
• Winning the Nobel Prize
• Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with No Arms and No Legs (Kyle Maynard)

Leaving your BIG Goals to Chance risks having them downsized or discarded! Reliably Achieve BIG Goals Faster from these 5 Steps!
5 Steps to Reliably Achieve BIG Goals Faster!

The Power of Vision.

“Without Vision the Past Predicts the Future.”
The future is predictable without a Vision. A Vision uses your Belief System to creates new access to something greater. A Vision is your “come from” place and communicates your BOLD Stand. It’s the secret weapon that pulls you through tough times and boosts you to a higher place.
Having only a resource and task focus develops survival/safety concerns which bring survival results and create interactions of force, competition, self-interest and disconnection. Vision focus develops aliveness, power, collaboration, community and connection, all of which reliably drive you higher.

Don’t Go it Alone.

Individually, we are self-limiting, less accountable and less reliable. One of my BIG successful clients says: “we have that little voice in our head that doesn’t want us to be anything.”  When we are aware of others knowing and supporting what we are up to, or being aware that others expect our greatness, it pulls us higher and more reliably forward. The best version of ourselves comes when we contribute to others and others contribute to us.

Performance on Purpose.

“If you’re just performing to lifeless goals, you’ll be lifeless about achieving them.”
The greatest version of you, the version that has and can achieve the impossible, comes from connecting to a purpose (rooted in your Vision) that moves you. Performance on Purpose comes from seeing your life as a movie where you are the hero having victory over undesirable forces, and where you are helping to free others from those undesirable forces.
A goal driven by purpose has a much higher reliability to be achieved.
Also, we must continuously renew ourselves with our purpose so we can maintain performance at our extraordinary personal best.

Planning.

“Businesses that Plan Together Pull Together.”
Create a unified Roadmap of Prioritized Goals, Plan, Action. Clarity catapults results.
It’s only a lofty dream until you know the steps for achieving it.
Often, in the patterns and chaos of daily doing, we miss the BIG pieces unless we have the Vision, Goals, Plan, Action roadmap.

Set “Control Points” So You Maintain Progress.

Communicate frequently at specific, committed times. Committed communication greatly increases Reliably Achieving BIG Goals Faster.
Develop and Commit to an Escalation process when things go off track. Have a “By When” date on when you will complete something.
Define and Accept an accountability process and have discipline to hold yourself -and accept having others- hold you to it.

Don’t leave your BIG Goals to chance.  Schedule a 15 minutes conversation today!

Love Change?

Is it possible to love change and welcome it into our lives?

Recently while attending a company’s annual conference where major technology change was being presented; I knew it was going to be interesting to see how the multi-generations represented would react.

As the changes were announced you could feel the fear, doubt, and tension spread throughout the room!  In looking at their expressions for some it seemed like the end of business as usual and it was overwhelming to see where the company was headed.

A large number of the attendees had been there from the beginning of the company and personally knew the founders; and I could imagine they were wondering: “is this what they would have wanted?”

Then others were excited and easily willing to embrace the changes. They were the ones texting on the hashtag set up,  sharing this would be a great future for everyone!

As the presentation continued I looked around and many were in shock and really didn’t know what to feel or think. They knew change was needed; but were afraid they could not master the skills it would take to succeed in this new world!

This is not new is it? Change is happening all over our workplaces! I know you are either going to be facing it soon, are in the midst of it now, or you have been through it and will probably have to experience it again. This is good, right?

Change is just like anything else we face, isn’t it?  It all starts with our mindset and attitude! That is where change begins and where the progress on our journey is formed!

One of our Remarkable Speakers, Dean Lindsay
shares:  “Change is inevitable, Progress is a choice!”

In looking at the long term journey here are three steps to help you make change easier:

  • Choose to face your change! The longer you put this off the harder it will be to take the next steps to reach progress!
  • Secure all the complete information of what the change entails so that you can overcome the doubt, fear, and the barriers that could stand in your way, if you let them.  This includes asking questions and seeking expert advice to have a complete understanding of how to move to the final step in this process.
  • Make plans and goals of how to successfully handle the changes that are going to move you to success!  These need to be written down and a commitment made to do what it will take to succeed and not just quit and say “I Can’t!”

Can you say with me “I love change?”  The longer you delay saying those words the longer the time it will take you to progress on your journey; as there is no other way to avoid the inevitable!

NONPROFITS, THINK LIKE THE COWS!

A slap in the face on a freezing winter morning from a cold, wet, and smelly cow’s tail: that was my daily greeting from the first of more than 200 cows that needed to be milked.

I worked on my family’s dairy farm through high school and college, but the twice-a-day milking routine never came easy for me. Summers were hot, and winter mornings at 3 a.m. were often below freezing.

The workers stood in a pit that placed the cows at chest level.

It felt like daily combat, with the cows definitely having the advantage. My arms and hands were targets for quick kicks, and my face was the object of nonstop tail swats.

The longtime veterans of the dairy didn’t seem to have the difficulties I did in getting the cows’ cooperation.

One particularly frustrating morning I was given some advice that at the time I laughed at, but I later realized was actually quite profound.

“Hardy, you have to learn to think like the cows if you want their cooperation.”

Organizations seeking to improve relationships with clients, members, board members, volunteers, donors, and sponsors can benefit from this dairy barn wisdom.

It’s easy to make the mistake of assuming we know what others want.

Although I thought that all the cows needed was to be fed and milked, they obviously wanted a different approach to the task at hand.

Often we get so focused on the work to be done, we don’t take the time to better understand either those we help or those who help us. As a result, collaboration and support may be less than desired.

Reduce resistance and increase cooperation by actively soliciting and listening to the opinions of those you are trying to engage.

Whether it’s clients, members, board members, volunteers, donors, or sponsors, who is it you need to think more like?

The DNA of a Great Speaker!

telling our storyAmong the top characteristics that make a great professional speaker is the ability to tell a good story. Think about some of the best speeches you’ve ever heard, what sets them apart? The numbers and statistics? The lesson? Probably not.

Very likely, the thing that stands out in your mind after a memorable speaker’s presentation is a great story or two. The speaker has the ability to create lasting images in your mind. Visually painting a picture by connecting the story to the message drives home the focal point and makes a terrific impression on the audience.

Telling a story invites the audience in. It makes them comfortable, both with the speaker and the message. Of all the tools in a speaker’s toolkit, it is by far one of the most powerful.

Great speakers weave life experiences throughout their message, creating a rapport with the audience, and giving life to the topic. Stories help the audience relate and creates a message that will live on long after the speech is over. That’s success through great story telling.

Our speakers here at Simply Sue Speaks! Global Booking Agency have the ability to do just that – tell a great story. It’s part of their DNA and makes for a riveting presentation with some serious #WOWfactor!

Are You in the BUT Mode?

Yes BUTHow often do you use the word ‘but’………………?

It is a powerful word when used occasionally to introduce something contrasting with what has already been mentioned, and, according to author Sean Dsouza, it can also become a defensive excuse for not taking responsibility for what happens in our lives!

Have you ever said “I would love to be living my dream, but I don’t have the money and opportunities others do?”  Or how about this one, “I have applied everywhere, but everyone says I am overqualified?” This one, which is specific to my industry, “I was the perfect speaker for that event, but they don’t pay speakers anymore.”

Or the classic, “I was the best candidate for the job, but I knew they wouldn’t hire me because of my age.”

What messages do these “buts” say about the person proclaiming it, and how are others supposed to react?  Words say what our mindset is feeling, and to keep in this mode is very distracting to others and can become devastation to the success we seek.

Is it possible to have a life with “no buts?”  Want to make a change? Here are some ways to begin:

  1. Recognize that you are being defensive and not taking responsibility for your actions so that the ‘buts’ win, both in your words and life.
  2. Take a look at your mindset and see if you are fixed on the failures or learning from the daily growth experiences that failure brings.
  3. Check out who you associate with. Do they allow the ‘buts’ to take over their mindset and words?
  4. Make a choice and decision to change.

Two words I work at deleting from my own and others’ conversation and mindset are: ‘try’ instead do or do not, ‘but’ instead use and. Will you join me?

“Thank” Your Way Through It- by Guest Blogger Lucy Wellmaker

Thank Your WayBy now, many of us know the benefits of being thankful and having an attitude of gratitude. Studies show that being grateful is linked to increased satisfaction, motivation and energy. Practicing gratitude involves finding and noticing things in our lives for which we are grateful.

While I am a big fan of a being grateful, I’d like to share a concept that is similar but very different. What I am suggesting here is that we give thanks for things for which we do not necessarily feel grateful.

One of my favorite movies is “Facing the Giants”. In it, a losing high school football coach tells his underdog team that they will do their best in all areas of their lives and whether they win or lose they are going to give thanks and praise.

Why would any coach want to give thanks and praise after losing a game? Maybe, because it works?

They didn’t stop at giving thanks. Giving thanks actually inspired and motivated them to do what they needed to do to change their situation. They faced their fears.

The coach pushed them even more and the team worked even harder to get what they wanted. In the end, when it really mattered, they won.

I know it’s just a movie, but I have seen this play out in my own life as well.

I am generally a naturally positive person. I see the glass half full. I look on the bright side of things. I don’t try to be this way, I just am.

So when I found myself making a list of things that made me angry and resentful I knew I needed to do something about it. Rather than shifting my attention to the good things going on in my life, I stayed focused on this list.

As I read each item on the list, I said “Thank you.” I did not feel thankful, nor did I have a reason to be thankful. I just said “Thank you”.

I was amazed at how quickly my mood shifted. I felt like I had discovered a miracle cure.

What I realized later was that I was tapping into something I know to be true. That is, that all things work for good even when we don’t understand them. It is when we trust this concept and just say “thank you” that we align ourselves with a powerful force that will get us through our seemingly negative situation.

Saying “thank you” doesn’t mean we become complacent and accept our situations as they are. It’s about acknowledging our situations as they are now, facing our fears and trusting that there is a reason that is somehow, someway in our best interest.

The change of heart that can be experienced by doing this is amazing! It really is a miracle.

It will fill you up and provide the inspiration needed to move you forward. In order for this strategy to work successfully, one must believe and have faith in it.

I invite you to give it a try.  Share your comments and let us know how it worked for you.

Give thanks and be well,

Lucy Wellmaker

Do You Always Believe the Best of Every Person?

thoughtspowerDo you allow negative thoughts to feed your feelings about others? Since most of what we hear is not always positive, it is a choice to decide to believe the best and not the worst of every person and situation, isn’t it?

Is this hard to do? In some situations it is easier than others, but we must be on guard to not let the negative thoughts pop up instead of valuing and caring for others! How about when you are driving and others are not as careful as they should be? Does ‘road rage’ automatically set in? Do you ever stop to think about what might be causing the person to drive like they are?

This is an easier one for me to handle, but for some I have seen this rob them of their joy, peace, and concern for others, and whenever they get in their car they expect to see bad driving and it becomes a way of life as to how they let their feelings react to it. Funny thing is, the other driver didn’t even know the impact they had, we let them control our feelings and emotions willingly.  In doing so, we not only robbed ourselves but we also brought others that are around us into the same mindset as well!

What about those that have intentionally hurt your business, family, and others?  This is really pushing the choice of finding and believing the best in a person because we are focused on what they did, not on the why, aren’t we?  I have not always been perfect at handling situations that involve confrontation and not letting my feelings explode! How about you?

However, I have finally realized, thanks to a great book by Joyce Meyer, called “Living Beyond Your Feelings” to truly live a purpose driven life and be successful and happy, I have to have a plan to not let my emotions and feelings run wild, and to face each person and situation looking for and believing the best and not the worse. This also includes seeing and believing the best of yourself too! No more negative talk about yourself, as this is not helping you see and believe the best in others!

Joyce shared, a great way to get in the mindset of thinking this new way is when you feel those emotions and feelings of negativity start to build is to immediately think of things that make you happy. Flip your mind off the negative feelings onto something that changes your attitude and the situation. It won’t take long to see that you would rather live in positive thoughts about others and yourself than live in the negatives. You never know when you start looking for and believing the best in others it not only changes your life, but it could change their life too!

Have a great week believing the best in yourself and every person, and love to hear how it works for you!

“Let It Go!”

letitgoThis time last year we were hearing “Let It Go” everywhere we turned!  The movie, “Frozen” captured our hearts when Queen Elsa through a complex past and story could finally “Let It Go” and become the person she wanted to be.

As we approach a New Year, are there things in our businesses and lives that we still need to “let go” so we can move forward toward the success that we long to achieve?

Geoffrey James, Contributing Editor to Inc.com and award winning business blogger shares in his post-http://goo.gl/i0hbD0
“Success results not from adding things to your life but from letting go of them.”

Sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? Sing the award winning song, and we can do it! However, Mr. James learned it isn’t as easy as we would like it! Very often it is painful to look at the things that may have originally been working for us, and realize we must “let them go!”

He recently took some advice and has a sign posted in large letters near his computer which reads “I LOVE LETTING GO!”  This serves as a great daily reminder that to “let go” we have to love the process of doing so, even though it may be hard, and take longer than we would like!

Thinking now, what are some things you still need to “Let Go” but have put off facing the decisions to do so? Isn’t it time to love letting it go?

From all of here at Simply Sue Speaks Global Booking Agency we congratulate you on learning how to “Let It Go” and move forward to the greatness of You!

What is Your Mind Focused On?

mindsetWhat is your mind focused on most of the time? That becomes your way of life, doesn’t it? Remember this saying when we first started going forward into the computer age “Garbage in- garbage out!” That’s how our minds work! What goes in is what we become and it shows itself everywhere we go!

That is why it is so important to make sure as individuals, business owners, and entrepreneurs we are putting the right things into our minds so that we can have successful and productive lives!

Once we begin on this journey it is a never ending process of learning and living. We have to recharge and refresh to keep our minds focused on what is best for us!

Whether it is improving our skill sets, maintaining great health, or having wonderful relationships and communications with others, it takes a daily decision and choice to keep our mindsets focused on doing what is best for us.

Carol Andrews, one of our speakers here at our agency is an expert in this field of making sure we create the right mindset for what we have been called and gifted to become.

As a sought after keynote speaker and break-out session presenter, Carol helps you know who you are so you can keep focused on what it will take to have confidence, overcome the fear, and succeed at what you do.

Having had a long career of being in front of the cameras as a TV Media Personality, Carol helps others to step out of their comfort zones and have a plan in place to succeed. Carol challenges everyone, including herself, to keep a positive attitude, be kind, and focus on the business you are in and do it well, using traditional and social media as your platform.

As a prolific author of her new best-seller, “From Author to Entrepreneur,” Carol has found a special niche workCarolbook1ing with other writers to tell their story and get it published. Just another interesting part of what Carol has to offer her audiences all over the world!

What is your mindset, as we move forward to finish 2015 strong?  Do you know the strength of your mind, and that the “best is yet to come?”
