From Farm Boy to Emmy Winner:
Bill Stainton Proves Innovation Lives in All of Us!

Bill Stainton is a 29-time Emmy Award winner and Hall of Fame keynote speaker who engages audiences with insight, energy, and humor through his Connect the Dots: How to Find the Ideas that Matter – Discover the Innovation Hidden in Plain Sight experience!

As the producer of the longest-running, highest-rated, and most award-winning comedy TV show in the United States, he led his innovative team to over 100 Emmy Awards of their own, and ten straight years of #1 ratings. Along the way, he worked with—and learned from—people like Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, and Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Bill is passionate about demystifying innovation and empowering innovation in everyone. His overriding message is that innovation is not just for the “gifted few.” In fact, as Bill says, we are all the gifted few—and he proves it in every experience he brings to his audiences!

He has been cited in Forbes and The Wall Street Journal, and has been a regular columnist for Seattle Business magazine. Bill has written hundreds of articles on the topics of innovation, creativity, and breakthrough thinking. His TEDx Talk, “Connect the Dots,” has been seen by 450,000 viewers and counting!

Just released, Bill’s new bestseller Innovation Unleashed: How to Find the Ideas that Matter and Transform Your Business shares his core philosophy: “Innovation isn’t a moonshot. It’s a muscle. And once you learn how to flex it, you can do it anytime, anywhere!”

All of this from a guy who grew up behind a dairy farm in the Amish countryside of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. A humble beginning, perhaps, for someone who then spent 20 years in television, rubbing shoulders with celebrities and rock stars (he’s played drums with members of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and the Who). But it all comes together on stage, where Bill’s unique life experience—from farm boy to Emmy winner—demonstrates that innovation truly can come from anywhere and to anyone.

On a personal note, Bill is also a pilot and a musician, although rarely at the same time.

Connect the Dots: How to Find the Ideas that Matter – Discover the Innovation Hidden in Plain Sight

Bill Stainton’s most popular keynote!

The Connect the Dots strategy revealed in this keynote shows audiences how to uncover game-changing ideas by making unexpected connections—between challenges, trends, observations, and overlooked opportunities. It’s a powerful reframe that turns “we’ve tried that” into “what if we tried this?”

This program is perfect for leaders and teams:

  • Feeling pressure to innovate but unsure where to begin or how to spark new thinking.
  • Operating in industries not traditionally seen as “creative,” yet facing disruption or increased competition.
  • Struggling to get fresh ideas from their teams—or to know which ideas are worth acting on.

The audience will leave with:

  • A clear method to spot patterns, possibilities, and ideas that others miss.
  • The confidence to tap into their own (and their team’s) creative problem-solving skills—regardless of role or title.
  • Practical ways to generate relevant, ready-to-implement innovations that drive results now, not “someday.”

Innovation for “Non-Innovators”: A Practical Approach for Everyday Problem Solvers

This keynote demystifies innovation for the rest of us—the people who wouldn’t call themselves “creative types,” but who still need to solve tough problems, adapt to change, and think ahead. Audiences will learn that innovation isn’t about big budgets or wild brainstorms—it’s about thinking differently, making connections, and finding ideas that actually work.

This program is perfect for leaders and teams:

  • Working in industries that aren’t known for being “innovative”—but who still need to stay competitive and relevant.
  • Feeling stuck in day-to-day execution and struggling to find time (or confidence) to think creatively.
  • Frustrated by traditional innovation approaches that feel vague, unrealistic, or out of reach.

The audience will leave with:

  • A refreshing, practical view of innovation that doesn’t require a lab coat, a breakthrough app, or a TED Talk.
  • Tools to spot overlooked ideas hiding in plain sight—and the courage to test them quickly and smartly.
  • A sense of ownership and possibility around innovation, even if they’ve never thought of themselves that way before.

Turning Creativity into Money™  How to Make Innovative Thinking Pay Off!

This keynote shows senior leaders how to translate creativity into real business value. It’s not about artsy brainstorming or vague “out of the box” thinking. It’s about identifying ideas that solve real problems, spotting opportunities others miss, and turning those insights into revenue, efficiency, and competitive advantage. Because creativity isn’t fluff—it’s a business asset.

This program is perfect for senior leaders and executives:

  • Responsible for growth, innovation, or transformation—but unsure how to make creativity part of the bottom-line conversation.
  • Leading teams that default to execution but rarely surface bold, new ideas.
  • Frustrated by past innovation initiatives that generated excitement but no measurable results.

The audience will leave with:

  • A leadership mindset that treats creativity not as a side project, but as a strategic multiplier.
  • Tools to help their teams connect the dots faster—between what’s possible and what’s profitable.
  • A clear, repeatable way to move from idea to impact—without adding cost, complexity, or risk.

The Elite Innovation Lab™ – From Innovation to Application – In Real Time

The Elite Innovation Lab is the perfect add-on to any of Bill’s keynotes. It’s not a lecture. It’s not a brainstorm. It’s a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves working session where participants apply the concepts from the keynote directly to the challenges, opportunities, and decisions they’re facing right now.

This is where the lightbulb moments turn into action plans.

What it is:

  • A high-impact Innovation Workshop designed to turn ideas into results
  • A working lab customized for your attendees, your industry, and your real-world goals
  • An interactive experience that unlocks creativity, collaboration, and practical solutions—fast

How it works:

  • Ideal duration: 90 minutes (but flexible from 30 minutes to 2 hours)
  • Can be positioned as a breakout session, leadership roundtable, or private invite-only experience
  • Perfect for senior leadership teams, sponsors, VIPs, or select cross-functional teams
  • Can be offered as a premium paid session or as a sponsored add-on—creating new revenue opportunities for your event
